Sports Relief–Cracking the Spine–The Final Mile
As you know the whole school is off to Hope Valley College on Friday afternoon to complete our final mile for Sports Relief. We have been running as part of our challenge from Andy Mouncey to run the same distance as the Cracking the Spine race, which follows the whole length of the Pennine Way – 268miles.
When the children brought their sponsorship forms home earlier this week we had run a massive 424.4 miles, which took us to the top of the Pennines and up past Alston on our second run through.
However, even since then a huge 35.1miles have been added to our total through the website, leaving us half way between Alston and the next checkpoint at Greenhead!
The running club started last week as well (hopefully it will continue through to the summer) and 16 pupils and 3 members of staff turned out to run. They all managed 1.3 miles, taking our total up to a huge 484.2miles! We are now half way between Greenhead and Check Point 5 at Bellingham!
With running club on again tonight and a potential total of 72 miles on Friday (if everyone turns out) and only 55.7miles left to go to reach the top of the Pennines for a second time – I think we may complete our challenge twice over! Congratulations everyone!
If you know you have more miles to add through the website, then please do so. If you have added miles to the website since the 14th March then these need to be added to your sponsorship form as well. Please bring your sponsorship money and forms back asap so that we can have a rough idea of how much money we have raised for Sports Relief 2014.
