World Thinking Day
Did you know that today was World Thinking Day? This morning we had a very special assembly delivered to us by the 1st Grindleford Rainbows, led by Trish Barker and Chloe.
We learnt that today’s date was picked as it was Lord Baden-Powell’s birthday and he first started the Scouts. His sister set up the Girl Guiding movement and his wife was the first World Chief Guide.
The theme for this year is ‘Grow’ and we learnt about the strength of guiding through a wonderful picture of a tree. All the different names for Rainbows around the world were in the flowers at the top of the tree. Did you know that Rainbows in Italy are called Ladybirds and in Hong Kong they are Happy Bees? Can anyone remember the country where Rainbow’s are called Smurfs?
To help celebrate today, everyone who is part of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers and Cubs came to school dressed in their uniforms, which was amazing to see. Brownie Bear even joined us for the day!
A massive thank you to Trish, Chloe and the Rainbows for doing such a good assembly and to everyone who took part and shared their promises with us.
