We had a lovely time today at school celebrating all things good about friendships. During assembly we talked about what attributes we look for in a friend and then some very brave actors acted out a story which illustrated that a true friend would not leave you to save themselves, but stand by you whatever happens.
We followed this up at breaktime by the children being given a piece of ‘friendship wool’ that ‘binds’ them together with their friend. They took their wool and gave it to their friend whilst telling them exactly what their friendship means to them. It was lovely to hear! Then all the ‘friendships’ were tied to our little cherry tree to blow in the wind.
During lunchtime some of the children also had a go at making friendship bands. They chose their own colours and helped each other to plait the bands.
What do you think of all of our ‘friendship’ creations?
