Christmas at the Station

We were asked by The Friends of Grindleford Station to help in decorating the station platform for Christmas. As part of their Forest School sessions, Class Two created some lovely natural Christmas decorations. Just look at their gorgeous handiwork, a nice bit of colour has been added to Grindleford Station at this special time. It’s so great to be able to be part of community projects such as this.

If you go down to the woods today….

On Monday, Class 3 got the chance to explore the school’s brand new patch of forest. We have been working closely with the National Trust over the last few weeks and they have found us an absolutely fantastic area for our Forest Schooling. We are extremely grateful to them and will be arranging some site clearing in early September, so watch this space because we will need some extra help!

The afternoon began with a bit of drama, the  children thought about woodland animals and how they move in the woods, then pretended to be a fox, rabbit or a badger. After practising a clove hitch and a timber hitch, they worked collaboratively in putting up tarps. Some great fun and games and good results ensued.
